THE Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim and Raja Permaisuri Agong Raja Zarith Sofiah graced the Hari Raya Aidilfitri Reception at the National Palace today, celebrating the festive occasion with over 300 distinguished guests.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, along with his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Cabinet Ministers, and senior government officials, were among those in attendance.

Bernama reported the reception featured a grand buffet spread, showcasing a variety of traditional dishes. Guests enjoyed popular treats from Sultan Ibrahim's home state of Johor, including kacang pool, laksa Johor, and mi rebus, alongside classic Raya favourites such as lemang, ketupat, rendang, and nasi beriani.

In addition to the local dignitaries, the event was attended by foreign representatives from several countries, including the United Kingdom, Turkey, Egypt, Indonesia, and Thailand, highlighting Malaysia's international ties.

The guests were also entertained by a lively performance of classic Raya songs by the Johor Military Force's band, adding a musical touch to the celebrations.

Before departing, Their Majesties took time to personally greet and interact with the guests, further fostering a warm and festive atmosphere.

Also present were Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, the Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Johari Abdul, the Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat, and Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai, Chairman of the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama).

Earlier in the day, Sultan Ibrahim and Raja Zarith Sofiah had attended the Aidilfitri prayers at the Masjid Wilayah Persekutuan, marking a significant and solemn start to the holiday celebrations. - March 31, 2025
