CHIEF Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has indicated that Pakatan Harapan (PH) remains Gabungan Rakyat Sabah’s (GRS) top choice for electoral cooperation in the upcoming 17th Sabah state election.

Hajiji confirmed that discussions with PH are on the cards, although no date has been set.

“We are currently in government together. God willing, we will hold discussions with PH soon,” he told reporters after attending Gagasan Rakyat’s Hari Raya Open House in Sungai Sibuga in Sandakan on Saturday.

The GRS chairman’s remarks come amid renewed political realignments, following Barisan Nasional (BN) Sabah’s announcement of its intention to work with PH in the state.

Responding to questions about potential talks between GRS and PH, Hajiji stressed that as the coalition leading the GRS-PH Plus state government, the choice of election partners ultimately lies with them.

“The state government is GRS-PH Plus. This is clear. But in politics, we seek what is good and unifying for the people. We want political stability in Sabah.

“So, our door is open to those who wish to work with us.”

However, he was firm in reiterating that GRS holds the right to decide its electoral partners.

“We will decide who our partners are in the next election,” he stressed. - April 19, 2025
