COMMUNICATIONS Minister Fahmi Fadzil and several other key figures within PKR have secured divisional leadership posts without contest in the party's ongoing 2025 elections

PKR Information Chief Datuk Fahmi Fadzil has officially retained his position as Lembah Pantai division chief after emerging unchallenged in the PKR 2025 divisional elections.

The result was announced via the official PKR 2025 Election website at https://pemilihan.keadilanrakyat.org, which also oversaw simultaneous elections for the party’s Women’s and Youth (Angkatan Muda Keadilan - AMK) wings.

Fahmi, who also serves as the Minister of Communications and Member of Parliament for Lembah Pantai, begins his second consecutive term leading the division, which will run from 2025 to 2028.

The division’s deputy chief and vice-chief posts were also won uncontested by Abdullah Izhar Mohamed Yusof and Chan Phooi Lai, respectively.

On March 17, Fahmi had revealed that no nomination papers were submitted to challenge his position before the nomination period closed.

Fahmi has also confirmed he will be contesting a seat on the Central Leadership Council (Majlis Pimpinan Pusat, or MPP) in the elections scheduled for May.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister’s political secretary, Datuk Azman Abidin, similarly retained his post as the Bandar Tun Razak Division Chief unopposed.

In Pahang, another political secretary to the Prime Minister, Datuk Ahmad Farhan Fauzi, secured the Indera Mahkota division chief role, also without challenge.

The second phase of the divisional election process, which began on 19 April and continues until 20 April, includes contests in Terengganu, Kelantan, the Federal Territories, Pahang, Penang, Johor, and Sabah.

The first phase was held from 11 to 13 April and involved the states of Kedah, Perlis, Selangor, Melaka, Perak, Negeri Sembilan, and Sarawak.

Elections for the party’s Central Leadership Council (MPP), Central Women’s Leadership Council (Majlis Pimpinan Wanita Pusat, MPWP), and Central Youth Leadership Council (Majlis Pimpinan Angkatan Muda Keadilan Pusat, MPAMKP) will take place on 24 May.

In Nibong Tebal, PKR Women’s Chief Fadhlina Sidek claimed a decisive victory in the division’s contest, securing her position as division chief.

Fadhlina, who also serves as Minister of Education and Member of Parliament for Nibong Tebal, garnered 677 votes, defeating her two challengers, Muttaqeen Mustafa (335 votes) and Muhammad Navalan Abdullah (72 votes).

Commenting on her win, Fadhlina expressed her gratitude to party members at the division level for their trust.

"This victory is a great responsibility that must be carried out to the best of my ability. The main focus now is to strengthen the party at the divisional level and ensure that Nibong Tebal remains a stronghold for KEADILAN in the upcoming 16th General Election, centred on service to the entire community here," she said.

Fadhlina had earlier announced her intention to defend her position as PKR Women’s Chief in the party polls scheduled for next month. - April 20, 2025
