AN E-HAILING driver claimed he was forced to press the 'complete job' button before his passenger, Datin Seri Pamela Ling Yueh , 42, was taken into one of three vehicles that overtook them near the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters in Putrajaya, on April 9.
According to reports in Harian Metro, the driver, who only wanted to be known as Kok, 55, said the incident happened around 2pm while he was on his way to drop the woman off from Velocity Tower, Cheras, to the MACC office.
He said the vehicle he was driving was overtaken from the front, side and rear by three cars as it approached its destination.
"Three individuals got out of two cars, two men and a woman. Another person did not get out of the third car.
"Both men were wearing vests with 'polis' written on them while the woman was dressed in a police uniform.
"They approached my car and said they wanted to detain the woman for investigation, supposedly following a police report," he said.
Kok said his passenger refused to get out of the vehicle, causing the woman in police uniform to try to pull her out of the back seat.
He said the two men then assured him that the woman would only be taken to a nearby police station to assist in the investigation.
"Once she agreed to leave, she handed over RM100 as fare payment. I was forced to press the complete journey button, then they took my identity card, driving licence and phone number," he said.
Kok said he lodged a police report after the incident because he suspected something was wrong and was unable to work for two weeks while waiting for the new licence to be completed.
In a related development, the police are still investigating the disappearance of Pamela, including looking into allegations that the woman was abducted by a individuals posing as an enforcement officers.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain reportedly said his party was also examining closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage at the scene of the incident.
So far, he said, no ransom demand has been received regarding the woman's disappearance. – May 6, 2025
