THE mother of the baby who was allegedly left waiting for almost 11 hours at the Emergency and Trauma Department of the Melaka Hospital said the hospital has apologised and they had accepted it.

"However, it is our wish that such an incident never recurs and affects anyone else," she said.

This the wish of Siti Aishah Rahim, 27 and her husband, Mohd Firdaus Zain, 40, after the incident surrounding their 22-month-old baby went viral on social media.

The baby was apparently left unattended till it suffered a seizure.

Melaka Human Resources and Unity Committee chairman Datuk Ngwe Hee Sem earlier said he had contacted State Health Director, Dr. Ruzita Mustaffa after being informed about the viral case.

According to him, he had ordered the relevant parties to conduct an immediate investigation to find out the real cause and hoped that the public including the media would not speculate until a complete report was obtained.

After what happened to her daughter, Siti Farha Adelia Firdaus, Siti Aishah hopes it will be taken seriously and efforts are made to improve hospital services so such incident do not recur.

She said her baby needs to be monitored in the regular ward as her body temperature is still not stable. – May 12, 2025
