Guan Eng calls for Zaharuddin to be investigated for alleged racist statement
"This attitude must be stopped and cannot be allowed to continue," said Guan Eng - June 25, 2025

DAP advisor Lim Guan Eng said Sungai Buloh PAS chief Zaharuddin Muhammad should be charged and legal action taken against him for the crime of inciting racial hatred and racial tension.

According to Guan Eng, this was following a post by Zaharuddin, who is also the son-in-law of PAS President Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, on Facebook regarding the appointment of Johnny Lim as the first Chinese military officer to be appointed to the rank of Lieutenant General in the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF).

Guan Eng claimed that through the deleted post, Zaharuddin alleged that Malaysia may have its first Chinese Prime Minister by 2058 following Johnny's historic appointment.

He said that the racist and extreme statement not only insulted the professionalism and integrity of the ATM but also tarnished Johnny's outstanding achievements and belittled the sacrifices and loyalty of non-Muslims towards the country.

"The politics of hatred and intolerance brought by PAS is now becoming more extreme, fanatical and loaded with racist elements.

"This attitude must be stopped and cannot be allowed to continue.

“No institution is considered sacred from PAS' attacks, ethnic minority groups are easily targeted for slander, while the Federal Constitution is openly insulted,” he said via his Facebook page today.

According to Guan Eng, only strict punishment for irresponsible and dangerous narratives like those made by Zaharuddin can save Malaysia from falling into ruin due to racism and extremism being nurtured by PAS.

It was earlier reported that Major General Datuk Johnny Lim Eng Seng had become the first Chinese officer in Malaysian history to be promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General, marking a significant milestone in the MAF’s efforts to promote inclusivity and meritocracy. – June 25, 2025
