THE establishment of a Human Rights Tribunal, the potential adoption of nuclear energy, and proposals for vertical schools in urban centres are among the key issues being raised at today’s Dewan Rakyat sitting.
According to the Order Paper published on the Parliament website, Teresa Kok Suh Sim (PH–Seputeh) will ask the Prime Minister for an update on the government’s efforts to introduce a tribunal for human rights.
On energy matters, Tan Kar Hing (PH–Gopeng) is scheduled to ask the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation about the nation’s readiness to explore nuclear energy as a power source, and the forms of international cooperation currently in place to support such initiatives.
Urban infrastructure is also on the agenda, with Datuk Muslimin Yahaya (PN–Sungai Besar) seeking details on Kuala Lumpur City Hall’s (DBKL) proposal to construct vertical schools of between 10 and 17 storeys.
Meanwhile, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin (BN–Kinabatangan) is expected to question the Foreign Minister on whether the federal government intends to include the Sabah state government in any negotiations concerning the Ambalat territorial issue.
Following the oral question session, the Dewan Rakyat will proceed with the first reading of the Countervailing and Anti-Dumping Duties (Amendment) Bill 2025.
The second readings of several key bills are also scheduled for today, including the Energy Commission (Amendment) Bill 2025, Electricity Supply (Amendment) Bill 2025, Education (Amendment) Bill 2025, and the Mufti (Federal Territories) Bill 2024.
The current Dewan Rakyat sitting is set to continue for 24 days until 28 August. - July 30, 2025
