JOHOR police have been given the green light to charge the father of the late A. Tishant, 6, who was found dead buried in the Rompin area, Jempol, Negeri Sembilan, last month.

However, Johor Police Chief Datuk M. Kumar said the charge so far was only for assaulting his wife and the suspect's police report claiming his son was missing.

He said the suspect would be charged in the Johor Bahru Court after the investigation at the Jempol district police headquarters (IPD) under Section 302 of the Penal Code was completed.

“In Johor, the investigation against the suspect only involves Section 323/324 of the Penal Code; Section 18 of the Domestic Violence Act 1994 and read together with Section 326A of the Penal Code for allegedly assaulting his wife in addition to Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001.

He said the suspect’s wife lodged a report on July 22 claiming she was physically abused by the suspect, who also took their only child away.

"Police subsequently opened an investigation paper under Section 323 of the Penal Code and Section 18 of the Domestic Violence Act, leading to the suspect’s arrest.

“Upon completing investigations, the suspect was released on police bail," he said.

Kumar said the suspect then lodged a police report alleging that he had left the child inside a car before the child went missing and police opened another investigation paper under Section 31(1) of the Child Act for child neglect, and also began a missing persons investigation.

During the suspect’s statement recording, there were inconsistencies and suspicious elements and due to the suspicious nature of his statement, police re-arrested the suspect and obtained a remand order in Johor.

Further probes later revealed the truth, leading to the discovery of the boy’s remains in Jempol, Negri Sembilan.

The suspect was then handed over to the Negri Sembilan police for further investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

Tishant was reported missing in Taman Bukit Indah on July 24 and four days later, his body was discovered buried in Rompin, Jempol. - August 3, 2025
