Former Johor speaker Mohamad Aziz dies at 80

JOHOR BARU – Former Johor speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Aziz died of old age at Sultan Ismail Hospital here last night, aged 80.

His son, Shukur, confirmed the death at 10.10pm, and said Mohamad’s remains will be brought back to his residence in Jalan Kemuncak 12, Taman Nong Chik here, with burial to be conducted at the Bukit Aliff Muslim cemetery at 9.30am today.

Mohamad was state speaker from 2013 to 2018. He was also Parit Yaani assemblyman and Sri Gading MP from 1986 to 2013.

The former Sri Gading Umno division chief held the post of social development and community welfare exco, and was Umno permanent deputy chairman from 2009 to 2017. – Bernama, December 25, 2020
