COMMUNICATIONS Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil denied that he had given any instructions or statements to block content related to the death of Zara Qairina Mahathir as alleged in the Facebook post by "Datu Bentan Alamin."
He stressed that the post was defamatory, and that police and Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) reports had been made against the account owner.
"I have never issued any statements or instructions as alleged. I call on all parties to stop spreading defamation and not to exploit any issue for personal gain, including using the Zara Qairina case as material for manipulation," he said in his Facebook post.
In his post, Fahmi also shared a screenshot of Datu Bentan Alamin's Facebook account, which claimed he had ordered that content related to the death of Zara Qairina be monitored and blocked.
Fahmi also said the MCMC has been urged to track down celebrities involved in the sale of videos suspected of having pornographic elements via the Telegram application.
He stressed that any individual who makes the sale of pornographic videos a source of profit is committing a crime and can be arrested.
“So far I do not have any new information, but I can refer to the police if they have any developments in this case," he added.
Recently, a video went viral on social media about a celebrity who was allegedly offering his personal videos via Telegram for a certain fee limited to the first 1,000 subscribers. - August 23, 2025
