FOUR men were killed in the early hours of Monday after their pickup truck veered off the South Klang Valley Expressway (SKVE) and crashed into a tree, with drowsiness believed to be the likely cause.

The victims, all Malaysian men in their 40s, were travelling in a yellow Ford Ranger when the vehicle reportedly lost control at kilometre 27.7 of the SKVE, near Kuala Langat, at approximately 3.20am.

Kuala Langat District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi, said the four friends were en route from Dengkil to Banting when the vehicle skidded off the left shoulder of the road.

“As a result of the crash, all victims sustained severe head injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene by medical officers from Banting Hospital,” he said in a statement.

He added that the next of kin of all four deceased have come forward to lodge reports and provide statements to the Kuala Langat District Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving. - Sept 1, 2025
