MALAYSIANS can check their eligibility for the RON95 petrol subsidy through the BUDI MADANI (BUDI95) initiative launched by the Ministry of Finance - from 9am this morning.

The official portal www.budimadani.gov.my is now open for eligibility profile checking and monthly subsidy usage balance.

Minister of Finance II, Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan said the check is done automatically using their MyKad number without the need for new registration.

Users only need to insert their MyKad into the reader at the petrol pump to confirm eligibility before making a payment.

The RON95 petrol subsidy is targeted at Malaysians aged 16 and above with an active driving licence.

The subsidy eligibility limit is set at 300 litres per month, based on findings from the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM).

The subsidized price remains at RM1.99 per litre, while the unsubsidized market price is around RM2.60 per litre.

Consumption exceeding the quota will be charged at the current market price. However, e-hailing drivers can apply for additional quota through the same portal.

Payment can be made using cash, credit/debit cards, or e-wallets. The transaction receipt will display the subsidy value borne by the government as well as the actual amount paid by the consumer.

The government expects savings of between RM2.5 billion and RM4 billion per year through the abolition of bulk subsidies, which will be channelled back into targeted assistance such as the Rahmah Cash Contribution (STR) and Rahmah Basic Contribution (SARA).

For more information, the public can contact the BUDI95 helpline at 1300-88-9595 from 9am today. - September 25, 2025
