CALLS for disciplinary action against Bersatu Supreme Leadership Council member Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan, following his open criticism of Secretary-General Datuk Seri Mohd Azmin Ali continue to grow.

Wan Saiful had yesterday claimed that Azmin was unfit to lead the party as long as the controversy over a 2019 video, which allegedly showed the former minister involved in perverse acts, was not resolved.

Johor Bersatu chief Datuk Sharuddin Jamal said the matter should be immediately addressed by the disciplinary committee to maintain confidence in the party's credibility.

"The Disciplinary Board must take appropriate steps without delay so that the confidence of members and the people in the party continues to be maintained," he said in a statement.

Sharuddin also assured Bersatu Johor's full support for President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to continue leading the party and Perikatan Nasional (PN).

Terengganu Bersatu chief Razali Idris stressed that proceedings must be conducted transparently, fairly and in accordance with existing regulations to ensure Bersatu remains strong and respected.

“Any delay in dealing with issues like this will only damage the party’s integrity in the eyes of members and the public,” he said.

Despite admitting to accepting Azmin's appointment as Bersatu secretary-general when Muhyiddin was announced as president, Wan Saiful said the situation changed after he received new information claiming that the forensic investigation into the video involving Azmin in Sandakan was authentic.

"Immediately after the rally, I received new information claiming that the forensic investigation into the video involving Azmin in Sandakan found that the video was authentic.

"This changed my stance on Azmin, and I expressed my view to several parties that as long as the issue of this video is not resolved, Azmin is not suitable to be the leader of Bersatu," he said.

Wan Saiful added that the information he received made him distance himself from Azmin and caused strains in his relationship with the Bersatu secretary-general.

“I am of the opinion that if it is political slander, yes, we must defend and fight it… but if it is a deviant moral issue, then it is not suitable for a party like Bersatu,” he said.

In a latest development ten Selangor Assemblymen joined the call for stern action against Wan Saiful and several Bersatu division leaders who they alleged were trying to divert attention from the failure of the movement to oust party president Muhyiddin.

In a joint statement, they described the media statement by Wan Saiful and several division leaders - Suhaimi Ghazali (Sepang), Isa Saidi (Ampang) and Muhd Fadhli Ismail (Ipoh Timur) - as a "desperate effort" after the statutory declaration (SD) plot by 120 division leaders failed.

They claimed that the continuous attacks on Azmin were just a ploy to cover up Wan Saiful's own personal problems, who is now facing prosecution in court on charges of embezzling millions of ringgit.

The statement was signed by Mohd Rafiq Abdullah (Kuang), Rosnizan Ahmad (Morib), Wan Dzahanurin Ahmad (Sungai Kandis), Dr Afif Bahardin (Taman Medan), Hilman Idham (Gombak Setia), Harrison Hassan (Jeram), Jamil Salleh (Dengkil), Noorazley Yahya (Bukit Melawati), Nurul Syazwani Noh (Permatang) and Muhammad Muhaimin Harith Abdullah Sani (Batang Kali). - September 30, 2025
