A FACTORY worker was arrested by the police last night on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old boy.
Kuala Muda District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Hanyan Ramlan said the incident allegedly occurred at about 9pm on Monday when the victim and three friends were in the Bukit Bintang Ramlee area.
He said the child was then approached by an unknown man riding a motorcycle who 'baited' the victim by telling him he wanted to give him a free bicycle.
"The victim is said to have followed the suspect to a house in Taman Sri Astana before returning to Bukit Bintang Ramlee with a bicycle.
"After that, the suspect told him he wanted to give him another bicycle, causing the victim to be attracted to follow him again.
"However, the boy, who is also the third child of four siblings, was taken to a forest area in Kampung Serukam before the suspect allegedly forced the victim to hold his private parts," he said in a statement, today.
Following that, Hanyan said, the police arrested the 46-year-old suspect at about 9pm yesterday to assist investigations under Section 14(b) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
"Checks found that the suspect had no previous criminal record and he will be remanded today," he said. - October 1, 2025
