IN CONJUNCTION with the 47th Asean Summit, full motorcade rehearsals will commence tomorrow until Oct 24, involving traffic between KLIA, RMAF Subang, hotels in the city and the KL Convention Centre (KLCC).
A total 1,111 traffic policemen will be involved, inclding 91 officers and 1,020 personnel will be involved in managing traffic flow during the summit from Oct 26 - 28.
Federal police Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department (TIED) director Datuk Yusri Hassan Basri said phased road closures and diversions will also be enforced from Oct 26 - 28.
He said temporary road closures and diversions will be implemented periodically, depending on dignitaries' arrival times.
"Roads will reopen as soon as the convoys have passed," he said.
In total, six highways and 25 roads will be affected, while the arrival of foreign leaders is expected to start on Oct 25 and road closures will be implemented periodically, depending on the estimated time of arrival at KLIA, Kompleks Bunga Raya and RMAF Subang.
"Road closures would only take place when motorcades are on the move, and roads will be reopened immediately after the convoys have passed.
"Once the motorcade passes, the roads will be reopened. We will not close roads from morning until night," said Yusri.
He said the Asean Summit this year will involve the participation of several heads of government, including leaders of major nations such as the United States President Donald Trump.
"The police will act as coordinators to ensure both security and public safety during the summit, until a day after it ends Oct 29 " he said.
Additional personnel from outside Kuala Lumpur will be deployed to assist during the summit.
The major roads and highways in the Klang Valley that will be closed in stages throughout the Asean Trade, Investment and Economic Forum 2025 are as follows:
Saturday, Oct 25
Traffic diversions will be implemented to allow delegation movements from KLIA and RMAF Subang Air Base to official hotels.

Traffic control and staged road closures will take place from 8am until the arrival of delegations is completed, and again from 5.30pm until the return journey concludes.

Motorists are advised to avoid these routes during the affected hours and to use Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Yap Kwan Seng and Jalan Raja Chulan as alternatives.
Tuesday, Oct 28
Road closures and escorts will be carried out according to the departure schedules of foreign delegations travelling from their hotels to KLIA and RMAF Subang Air Base.

Police have urged motorists to allow extra travel time and to refrain from stopping along affected routes during motorcade movements.
The public is encouraged to use public transport, such as the LRT, MRT and Monorail, to minimise congestion in the city centre throughout the summit period. - October 16, 2025
