AN 11-YEAR-OLD boy has died after he reportedly drowned while taking part in a school-organised water confidence support programme at the Desa Tasik Sports Complex swimming pool in Sungai Besi earlier this week.

Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the victim was a pupil of Sekolah Kebangsaan Bandar Tasik Selatan.

He said police received a report after the boy was found unconscious during the activity on Wednesday.

“The victim later received further treatment at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM) Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). However, he was pronounced dead on Friday at around 2.30pm,” he said in a statement today.

Fadil added that the boy’s remains were laid to rest at the As-Syuhada Islamic Cemetery in Sungai Udang, Melaka.

“Further investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the incident,” he said. -November 8, 2025
