A 25-YEAR-OLD man with a learning disability was burnt to death after his family’s semi-permanent house was completely destroyed in a fire at Kampung Seberang Batu Hampar, Rembau, late last night.

Rembau Fire and Rescue Station chief Assistant Fire Superintendent Muhamad Khairul Yahaya said the station received a distress call regarding the incident at 10.57 pm.

“At the time of the incident, only the victim and his 59-year-old father were at home. Based on initial information, the father was asleep when he woke up to the sound of several small explosions and saw flames starting from his son’s room,” he said when contacted by Bernama today.

“The father managed to escape as the fire spread rapidly but sustained minor burns to his head. The cause of the fire and the estimated losses are still under investigation,” he added.
