THE Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) are working closely with Indonesian authorities to assist investigations following a viral video implicating a footballer from the neighbouring country.
The allegations concern members of the Motorcycle Patrol Unit (URB), who were accused of soliciting money while performing a routine inspection in Subang Jaya.
Selangor Police Chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar, confirmed that a police report has been filed and an investigation is ongoing under Section 504 of the Penal Code.
“Statements have been taken from the complainant, who is a URB officer, and his colleagues. However, statements from the individual claiming to be the footballer could not be obtained as they have returned to their home country,” Shazeli said during a press conference at the Selangor Contingent Police Headquarters on Friday.
He added that PDRM is liaising closely with strategic partners abroad and may use the Malaysian police representative at the country’s embassy to obtain the necessary testimony.
“It may take some time, and we are also coordinating with Interpol and strategic partners to complete the investigation,” he said.
Earlier, Subang Jaya Police Chief, Asisten Komisioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat, confirmed the officers involved lodged a report on November 7 after the footballer allegedly accused them of demanding payment during a traffic stop.
The viral footage shows the footballer and several individuals in a vehicle allegedly detained by URB officers for driving against traffic.

Separately, the police have confirmed that a husband and wife, along with the founder of the eHati marital motivation programme, who are facing court charges, are believed to have fled abroad.
Shazeli said investigations revealed that the couple reportedly left the country a day before the charges were to be filed.
“No arrests have been made as the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) believe they fled overseas before the charges were executed.
“Our preliminary checks indicate that they left via legal channels as they travelled before the warrants were issued.
“We believe they left on 13 October, while the charges were scheduled for 14 October. Yes, the two individuals named in the arrest warrants are the ones who fled,” he said during the press conference.
Shazeli added that police have identified the country the suspects fled to but declined to disclose it.
“PDRM will liaise with strategic partners in the country concerned to assist in locating the individuals named in the arrest warrants. We will not reveal the country to avoid complicating the search. It is somewhere in Southeast Asia,” he said.
Earlier reports stated that the two, including the eHati founder, are now wanted by police after failing to appear in court when charges were to be filed.
Previously, police revealed that 95 individuals had been called in for questioning in connection with a marital motivation event held at a convention centre in Section 15 last September.
Investigations also found that nude scenes occurred during a “Queen’s Night” segment of the event, involving four facilitators of the programme. - November 14, 2025
