TUARAN MP Datuk Seri Madius Tangau of UPKO is among those who will be embroiled in a 13-cornered fight for the Tamparuli state seat in the Sabah General Election.
The seat was earlier won by Datuk Jahid Jahim from PBS with a 3,517 majority in a four-cornered fight.
His son Johan Jahid will be contesting the seat as an independent.
UPKO will contest 25 seats with its president Datuk Ewon Benedick defending the Kadamaian DUN seat and leading the UPKO candidate line-up.
The Tanjung Aru state seat will see a nine-cornered contest with the focus on the clash between Warisan Vice President Junz Wong and Sabah DAP Deputy Chairman Chan Foong Hin.Before the state seat was dissolved last month, the seat was held by Wong who won the 2020 state election with a majority of 3,147 votes.
Meanwhile, the upcoming state election will also see a highly contested 13-cornered fight in the Inanam constituency.
Ten candidates are representing political parties, while the remainder are contesting as independents.
Among them is Edna Majimbun, the sole female candidate vying for the Inanam seat under the Warisan banner.
The race also features incumbent PKR assemblyman Datuk Peto Galim and former assemblyman Datuk Kenny Chua, 55, representing Star.
Other contenders include Paul Anap, 64 (Parti Impian Sabah), Lewis Wong, 59 (PKDM), Wong Thien Fook, 66 (Upko), Martin Sibit (GAS), Gordon Lai Han Yung, 51 (PBK), Chia Yun Long, 62 (Perjuangan Rakyat), Sumali @ Marino Ahmad (Rumpun), and independent candidate Roland Chia, 55.
This race marks one of the most crowded contests in PRN17, highlighting the growing competitiveness in the Inanam constituency. – November 15, 2025
