THE future of Sabah’s younger generation is at stake, and voters should support Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) to ensure the state’s continued development and secure prospects for local children, GRS Secretary-General Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said today.
Speaking after the GRS Candidate Mandate programme at Pentas Budaya in Ranau, Masidi, the incumbent for the Karanaan seat, stressed that electoral choices must reflect long-term benefits for Sabah’s youth.
“The world today is very competitive and the competition is increasing. Therefore, the people need to make more careful decisions and not be complacent, because the future of their children is a very important priority.
“I emphasise this because many candidates and the opposition parties have not touched on the future of the new generation in this state,” he said, as reported by the Daily Express.
Highlighting GRS’s achievements under its administration, Masidi pointed out that by September 2025, the total anticipated contract value awarded to Sabahan companies had reached RM1.7 billion.
He also noted initiatives to provide free education to Sabah students at state government-owned higher education institutions such as University College Yayasan Sabah (UCSF) and Kolej Teknologi Yayasan Sabah (KTYS), a programme announced by caretaker Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
Masidi underlined the importance of nurturing local talent capable of managing Sabah across various sectors.
“With this ability, we feel very proud to be Sabahans because we are able to manage our own state and have our own characteristics. Youth need to be involved in politics because that is where they can determine their own direction,” he said.
The Karanaan seat is witnessing a highly contested seven-cornered race, with Masidi facing challengers Georgina L George (Upko), Karim Bin Adam (KDM), Nadzimin Kamin (BN), Mohd Anuar Bin Abd Ghani (Star), Mukinin @ Mazlan Bin Daiman (Warisan), and Naomi @ Neomi Francis (Independent).
Masidi’s appeal reflects a broader strategy by GRS to position youth empowerment, local leadership, and sustainable development as central considerations for voters in the upcoming state election. - November 19, 2025
