MALAYSIA reaffirmed its commitment to hold Israel accountable through international judicial channels while stepping up humanitarian support for Palestinians, Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan announced, emphasising multilateral action alongside the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Arab League, and other global bodies.
In a written parliamentary reply, Mohamad, also Member of Parliament for Rembau, said collective pressure is crucial to ensure that Israel’s unlawful actions face “firm and effective consequences.”
He highlighted that during the Emergency Summit of Islamic and Arab nations in Doha, Qatar, on September 15, the Prime Minister, alongside OIC leaders, “unanimously condemned Israel’s military actions and ongoing atrocities, calling for accountability at the international level.”
Mohamad added, “The Prime Minister underscored that Israel’s actions clearly violate international law, the United Nations Charter, and universal humanitarian principles, which cannot be ignored.
He also urged the international community to consider punitive measures, including diplomatic pressure and economic sanctions, to compel Israel to halt conduct that flagrantly breaches international law.”
The Foreign Minister further detailed Malaysia’s extensive humanitarian support, noting that RM74 million has already been channelled to Palestinians via the Palestinian People’s Humanitarian Trust Account (AAKRP) since October 2023, covering food, medicine, and essential supplies.
An additional RM100 million has been committed for humanitarian relief and Gaza’s reconstruction, as announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the 2025 Sumud Nusantara Carnival.
“Rakyat, NGOs, government agencies, and private companies are encouraged to contribute through AAKRP as a continuing expression of solidarity with the Palestinian cause,” Mohamad said. He highlighted Ops Ihsan, a coordinated effort involving NGOs under the Foreign Ministry, as central to distributing aid, with priority assistance including food, clean water, cooking oil, medicine, winter supplies, and medical services.
On logistical developments, Mohamad confirmed that the Rafah crossing reopened on October 19 under the Gaza Peace Plan brokered by the United States, Egypt, Turkey, and Qatar, allowing up to 600 humanitarian trucks daily.
“While security constraints and strict inspections by the Israeli regime have limited full utilisation, this remains a positive and significant development.
“The government will continue monitoring the Rafah border and collaborating with NGOs and regional partners to ensure aid reaches Palestinians,” he said. - November 20, 2025
