GABUNGAN Rakyat Sabah (GRS) candidate for the Bongawan state seat, Tan Sri Anifah Aman, cast his ballot for the 17th Sabah State Election (PRN17) at SMK Bongawan today.
The Parti Cinta Sabah (PCS) President arrived at the polling centre at 12:30pm and completed voting at approximately 12:42pm.
Speaking to reporters, the former Kimanis MP expressed hope that voters would grant him another opportunity to serve, following two weeks of campaigning.
“God willing, I hope whatever the outcome is, it will be for the good of the people. I have served as a Member of Parliament before. Now, I simply ask for the chance to look after the people here,” he said.
The former Foreign Minister added that the campaign period had been meaningful, giving him the opportunity to meet residents as well as leaders from various political parties ahead of the election.
“I truly enjoyed meeting the people and fellow leaders. I am grateful for the chance to engage with them, regardless of their political leanings. What matters most is strengthening our ties with one another.
“I have no regrets. I had a good campaign, and if the results favour me, then Alhamdulillah,” he said.
The Bongawan state seat is set for an intense nine-cornered contest in this PRN17.
The seat was previously held by Dr Daud Yusof of WARISAN.
Besides Anifah, other contenders in Bongawan include Dolores Micheal (STAR), Datuk Mohamad Alamin (BN), Md Haris Md Tahir (Independent), Peter Matinjal (KDM), Hussin Dasar @ Esah (PPRS), Ridzuan Agus Payong (PN), and Royston Adven (PIS). – November 29, 2025
