POLICE have arrested a football coach on suspicion of sodomising and molesting a teenage boy in a hut in front of his residence in Kampung Gembut, Tanjung Sedili, Kota Tinggi, last Thursday.

Kota Tinggi District Police Chief, Superintendent Yusuf Othman, said the 15-year-old victim lodged a report a day after the incident.

Police later said they arrested the man, who is in his 50s, while he was in the village on the same day to assist in the investigation, reported Bernama.

"They are neighbours, and this is the first time this incident has happened. Investigations found that the suspect has no previous criminal record," he said in a statement today.

Following this, Yusuf said an investigation paper had been opened under Section 377C of the Penal Code, and the suspect was remanded for four days until today. – January 13, 2026
