PUTRAJAYA – The war to curb the Covid-19 pandemic is not over, and the battle is getting tougher as it requires the integration of the people and Health Ministry to fight the pandemic effectively, said health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

Noor Hisham said the ministry’s efforts to contain Covid-19 transmission in the country would continue and public health facilities have so far been able to take on the pandemic.

While wishing all Malaysians a happy new year, he reminded the people to comply with the standard operating procedures such as social distancing, wearing masks, washing hands frequently, and avoiding crowded places when gathering with family to welcome the new year.

“Do not gather if possible, and if need be, there should not be more than 10 people, all adhering to the ministry’s SOPs,” he said.

Noor Hisham also thanked all ministry staff, frontliners, and media personnel for jointly fighting the pandemic for the past year.

“The battle is mentally and physically tiring for the ministry staff and the public. We have not won, and we hope in 2021 we can break the chain of infection in the country with the people’s cooperation,” he said. – Bernama, December 31, 2020
