THE Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) has ruled that the defamation case linking former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob to the attack on Pandan Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli’s son is classified as No Further Action (NFA).

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) received a detailed report on the Dang Wangi Repot 23401/2025 dated 18 August 2025.

"PDRM opened an investigation paper on the case under Section 500 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

"The investigation paper was referred to the AGC on 23 December 2025 and the AGC decided to classify this case as 'No Further Action' (NFA)," he said in a written reply posted on the Parliament website.

He said this in response to a question posed by Rafizi who asked the Home Minister to state the status of the investigation by the authorities (PDRM and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC)) into a report made by the Press Secretary to Ismail Sabri on August 18, 2025 regarding a defamatory statement posted on a Facebook page linking the Bera MP to the attack on the son of the Pandan MP.

Saifuddin explained that the decision was made based on the findings of a profile analysis report by MCMC which could not identify the owner of the account in question and could not conclusively link any individual to the Facebook account being investigated.

Rafizi's 12-year-old son was attacked at a shopping mall in Putrajaya at about 2pm on August 13 last year with closed-circuit camera footage showing two men following his wife's car on a motorcycle before the incident.

A few days later, Ismail Sabri filed a police report and with MCMC against a Facebook page that uploaded two false articles linking him to the attack.

Rafizi also denied allegations linking Ismail Sabri to the attack on his son.

On January 30, Rafizi said he was prepared to write a letter to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Saifuddin to request that the investigation into the attack on his son be stopped if there were no positive developments.

Rafizi reportedly said he still believed the investigation process was ongoing but that it had been a long time since August last year. – February 5, 2026
