INSPECTOR-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail stressed that the 12 officers and policemen being investigated in connection with the recent alleged cryptocurrency robbery involving a group of Chinese nationals have not been given active assignments.
He said that all the personnel involved are still on duty, but are only stationed in the office while the investigation is being conducted.
"They are still under investigation, and we are taking statements from those involved. Based on that, further action will be taken.
"For now, we have not given them active assignments, but instead have placed them in the office to ensure that the investigation can be carried out properly and thoroughly," he said.
He added that strict action will be taken in accordance with existing laws.
"I do not deny this issue, and we will take strict action against any officer or personnel involved if they are found to be violating the law. This action will not end here.
"We will ensure that if there is a violation of the law or an offence, we will take action. We will open an investigation paper and will charge as appropriate," he said.
He said this when met by the media after attending the Yayasan Seri Negara Donation Ceremony and the Zakat Wakalah PBLT Sdn Bhd handover at the Cheras District Police Headquarters, today.
Previously, Selangor Police Chief Shazeli Kahar said that 12 officers and policemen had been arrested after they received a report on February 6.
All of them are being investigated under Section 395 and Section 397 of the Penal Code for suspected involvement in a robbery case involving a loss of approximately RM200,000 in cryptocurrency from a group of Chinese nationals. – February 21, 2026
