A FORMER telecommunications company director is expected to be charged in the Sessions Court today for providing bribes of about RM8 million to a bank’s group managing director for a loan approval.

According to sources, the suspect, a man in his 50s, was detained at about 12.30 pm yesterday while giving a statement at the MACC Headquarters, Putrajaya.

“Initial investigations found that the man was suspected of committing the act in 2012.

“The suspect is also believed to have submitted documents containing false details involving the ‘Joint Completion Guarantee’ document as fulfilling the conditions for approval of a loan application amounting to approximately RM400 million to finance a fibre optic project,” he said.

Meanwhile, Senior Director of the Special Operations Division (BOK), Datuk Mohamad Zamri Zainul Abidin, when contacted, confirmed the arrest and said that the case is being investigated under Section 16(b)(A) of the MACC Act 2009 and Section 471 of the Penal Code. – February 23, 2026
