THE price of RON97 petrol will increase by 70 sen nationwide from tomorrow to RM4.55 per litre, while the price of diesel in West Malaysia will go up by 80 sen to RM4.72 per litre.

In a statement, the Ministry of Finance said subsidised RON95 petrol under the BUDI95 programme will remain at RM1.99 per litre, while diesel in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan stays at RM2.15 per litre.

The price of non-subsidised RON95 will continue to retail at RM3.27 a litre.

These prices are effective until March 25.

“To protect the people from the impact of the significant increase in world oil prices, the MADANI Government continues to implement targeted support mechanisms.

“Through BUDI95, eligible recipients will continue to be able to purchase RON95 at RM1.99 per litre,” read the statement.

Through the Government's move to maintain the price of BUDI95 at RM1.99 per litre for Malaysians and the price of diesel at RM2.15 per litre for public transport and the land goods transport sector, the subsidy burden borne by the Government has exceeded RM3 billion per month.

In addition, the price of RON95 without subsidy has also been maintained at RM3.27 per litre to avoid additional cost pressures on the people due to the festive holiday travel. This subsidy retention measure is to ensure that the people's preparations to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri remain smooth, it added. – March 18, 2026
