A FAMILY’S Aidilfitri holiday on Pulau Tioman ended in tragedy after all three members were killed in a motorcycle crash on a hilly stretch of road.

The victims were identified as rider Mohd Sabri Ja’afar, 42, his wife Siti Aisyah Suhaime, 32, and their five-year-old son Muhammad Yusuf Abdurrahman.

The accident occurred at about 4pm along Jalan Tekek–Juara as the family travelled from the Kampung Juara waterfall towards their accommodation at Juara Mutiara Resort.

Rompin district police chief Superintendent Sharif Shai Sharif Mondoi said the motorcycle, a Yamaha Ego Avantiz, is believed to have lost control before veering off the road.

“Upon reaching the location, the motorcycle ridden by the victim lost control and skidded on its own towards the left shoulder of the road,” he said.

He added that the rider died at the scene, while his wife and child succumbed to their injuries while receiving treatment at the Tekek Health Clinic.

“As a result of the accident, the motorcycle rider died at the scene, while the two pillion riders died while receiving treatment at the Klinik Kesihatan Tekek,” he said.

Police are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Preliminary investigations found that the crash site was a steep, uneven stretch of road, although weather conditions were clear and the road surface was dry at the time of the incident. - March 21, 2026
