PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today chaired a special meeting of Menteri Besar and Chief Ministers to review developments in the global energy crisis following the conflict in West Asia.

In a Facebook post reported by Bernama, Anwar said the government’s approach is grounded in data and current realities, ensuring state leaders act in alignment, in a coordinated manner and based on shared facts with the federal government.

“The spirit of cooperation between the federal and state governments remains central, and I am confident Malaysia will remain resilient and capable of protecting its people under any circumstances,” he said.

He stressed that the government is undertaking comprehensive scenario planning to address various contingencies, including ensuring an uninterrupted national energy supply.

“The MADANI Government’s focus remains firm; ensuring supply stability, containing price pressures and shielding the public from the direct impact of this crisis.

“Every measure is implemented responsibly and with careful consideration, with a clear priority on safeguarding public welfare through targeted and effective support initiatives,” he said.

At the same time, Anwar said strategic engagement with all stakeholders, including industry players and small and medium enterprises (SMEs), will be further strengthened to ensure policies remain comprehensive, balanced and impactful. – April 2, 2026
