Anwar embarks on one-day working visit to Terengganu

PRIME MINISTER Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is undertaking a one-day working visit to Terengganu today, with a schedule focused on education, youth engagement and state development initiatives.

Anwar is expected to begin his programme at 11am by officiating the groundbreaking ceremony for a new Matriculation College in Bukit Payong, near Marang, marking a key federal education investment in the state.

At 1.45pm, the Prime Minister will attend a MADANI engagement session with tahfiz students at Sekolah Menengah Imtiyaz Yayasan Terengganu, where he is expected to interact with religious school students as part of efforts to strengthen youth and Islamic education outreach.

The visit will continue at 3.30pm when Anwar, who is also PKR president, chairs the Kuala Terengganu district development meeting at the Kuala Terengganu District and Land Office, where state-level development issues are expected to be discussed.

Later in the afternoon, at 4.45pm, he is scheduled to attend the Terengganu Keadilan Mini Convention at the Terengganu Equestrian Resort, in what is expected to be a political engagement session with party members and grassroots leaders.

The Prime Minister will conclude his visit by officiating the opening ceremony of the 1447H/2026M National Quran Recitation and Memorisation Assembly at the Indoor Stadium Arena Hall, State Sports Complex in Gong Badak, near Kuala Nerus.

The 68th edition of the national-level Quran assembly will feature 108 participants from across Malaysia, comprising 28 contestants in recitation and 80 in memorisation, underscoring the country’s continued emphasis on Quranic education and Islamic excellence. - April 13, 2026
