THE Sembrong Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein expressed gratitude for the decision of being reinstated into the party and reaffirmed his commitment to continue serving and fighting for UMNO’s causes.

Hishammuddin has been reinstated into UMNO following the lifting of his three-year suspension by the party’s Supreme Council.

In a Facebook post, the former UMNO vice-president expressed gratitude for the decision and reaffirmed his commitment to continue serving and fighting for the party.

“Alhamdulillah, the UMNO Supreme Council has lifted my suspension after three years. I will continue to struggle and serve, carrying out my responsibilities with commitment and principle.

"Then, now, forever," he said on Saturday.

The development follows earlier reports that UMNO president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced the party had agreed to accept back, without conditions, any members who had been suspended, expelled or who had left the party for any reason.

UMNO secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the decision was made during a Supreme Council meeting held in Melaka.

He added that among those whose applications were approved by the council were Hishammuddin, Khairy Jamaluddin and Tan Sri Syed Hamid Albar.

In March, Hishammuddin had previously said he remained prepared to continue his political struggle within UMNO, stressing that he had never left the party despite his three-year suspension. - April 18, 2026
