KOTA KINABALU – Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s announcement that he has the majority to form the next federal government may have little bearing on who Sabahans elect on Saturday.
Voters interviewed by The Vibes in Kota Kinabalu said they had already made up their minds.
Jensen, 48, a tourist guide who lost his job during the movement control order (MCO) welcomed Anwar’s decision although he acknowledged it will have little effect on who he will vote for.
“I believe the news (Anwar’s announcement) will not affect Sabahan votes. We made up our minds the day the 13 aduns defected,” he said referring to the assemblymen who defected from the ruling Warisan coalition, in support of former chief minister Tan Sri Musa Aman.
Former army veteran, Rizal, 42, echoed Jensen’s sentiments, adding that the Sabahans had their own preferences whatever the political development in the Peninsula.
"It doesn't matter whether a party is based in the Peninsula or in Sabah. Most importantly, they can defend our rights and support the people in Sabah. We know that Sabah is lagging behind in terms of development," said Rizal who now operates a food stall.
The Sabah elections tomorrow will see 1.12 million voters casting their ballots to elect the next state government. – The Vibes, September 25, 2020.
