A SINKHOLE which emerged along Jalan Wangsa Delima 4 in Wangsa Maju, Kuala Lumpur, has prompted concern after videos showed a vehicle passing over the stretch just moments before the ground gave way.

Footage shared on Threads by a user identified as arifizyani captured the sinkhole developing beside a roadside drainage grate, with a strong flow of water seen pouring into the cavity, believed to be from an underground pipe.

Water could be seen pooling at the base of the opening, while exposed rebar and bricks lined its walls. Sections of the surrounding asphalt also appeared unstable, particularly along the edges of the hole.

In the post, the user cautioned motorists to exercise care when using the road, noting its location near the Wangsa Walk intersection.

A separate dashcam clip shared in the comments by user hazim_din showed a car travelling along the same stretch shortly before the incident.

The vehicle appeared to jolt after passing over the spot, prompting the driver to pull over.

The incident drew widespread attention online, with many expressing concern over the area, given the concentration of high-rise residential developments nearby.

“Imagine how many condominiums there are. Scary,” one commenter wrote.

Another said: “Wangsa Maju?! That area already has so many tall apartments and condominiums, and now the ground underneath is hollow.”

Some users also speculated on the possible cause of the sinkhole, with one attributing it to long-term erosion.

“Drainage water and surface runoff. The soil erosion has been going on for a long time to cause this amount of soil movement,” the user said. – May 12, 2026
