KUALA LUMPUR – Veteran journalist Rozaid Abdul Rahman has been appointed the new Sinar Harian group editor-in-chief and chief content officer, effective today.
Karangkraf Group chairman Datuk Hussamuddin Yaacub said Rozaid was appointed based on his extensive experience in print and digital media.
“Hopefully, he can lead and take Sinar Harian to greater heights,” Hussamuddin told Bernama today.
With 36 years’ experience in the media industry, Rozaid, 56, will be responsible for managing Sinar Harian’s print edition, as well as its content on digital platforms.
The former The Star Media Group executive content officer and executive editor takes over the role from the late Datuk Baharom Mahusin, who died in November last year.
Rozaid started his career at Utusan Malaysia as a cadet reporter in April 1984. He was promoted to chief reporter of the Utusan Group in 1992, and news editor two years later.
He joined the civil service as press secretary to the entrepreneur development and cooperatives minister, and subsequently, the higher education minister.
In 2009, Rozaid rejoined the media industry after being appointed The Star associate editor.
He was then made The Star executive editor, and was responsible for, among others, developing the Malay-language digital platform for mStar Online. – Bernama, January 4, 2021
