MORE than 200 content creators and influencers have allegedly been left out of pocket after a marketing application platform failed to pay over RM543,000 in outstanding fees for completed promotional campaigns, according to complaints brought before MCA's Federal Territories Legal Bureau.
The growing dispute has sparked police reports and renewed scrutiny of intermediary platforms that connect brands with social media personalities, after affected creators claimed they fulfilled their contractual obligations but never received the payments promised.
MCA Federal Territories Legal Bureau chief Victor Teoh said the platform operated as an intermediary between companies seeking online promotion and content creators hired to market products and services through social media channels.
"To date, more than 200 content creators are reported to have been affected, with total outstanding payments exceeding RM543,000.
"They claim that despite completing the assignments given to them, the payments promised by the platform have not been received," he said during a press conference at Wisma MCA on Tuesday.
Among those affected is content creator Ng Yeen Theng, 31, who said she joined the platform in June last year and completed around 20 social media marketing assignments involving several prominent brands.
"I completed about 20 assignments with estimated earnings of RM10,074.08. However, all my withdrawal requests only showed a processed status, and I have yet to receive any payment to date," The Star reported him saying.
Another content creator, Gg Unnie, 34, said she had been using the platform since 2022 and had initially received payments without issue before delays began emerging.
"However, since the end of 2024, payments started to be delayed, and I have now gone more than a year without receiving payment.
"The outstanding amount owed to me has reached RM19,000," she said.
Affected creators further alleged that repeated attempts to contact the platform's management through telephone calls, emails and social media channels failed to yield satisfactory responses or explanations regarding the delayed payments.
Several victims have since lodged police reports over the alleged non-payment.
Ng was among those who filed a report at the Pandan Indah police station on June 16, claiming she had yet to receive RM10,074.08 for assignments completed through the platform.
The content creators are now urging authorities to investigate the matter and calling on the platform to explain the delays and settle all outstanding payments owed to those affected. - June 16, 2026
