SUNGAI Besar Division UMNO leader, Datuk Seri Jamal Md Yunos, has settled the outstanding judgment payment of RM66,600 to Seputeh Member of Parliament, Teresa Kok, over a defamation suit.

Datuk SN Nair who represents Teresa Kok, in a media statement today, confirmed that Jamal, as the judgment debtor, handed over a cheque for RM66,600 to Kok as the judgment creditor yesterday (June 19), at 5 pm.

"Following the payment received, the public auction, which was previously scheduled for 22 June 2026, will not continue for the time being, pending the clearance of the cheque.

"The judgment debt will be considered to have been fully settled, and the auction proceedings will be cancelled accordingly, subject to the check being successfully cleared," he said.

He also expressed their appreciation to all those involved in helping to resolve the matter.

On June 12, Nair said as many as 14 movable properties that had been seized from Jamal's residence would be auctioned on June 22 at 10 am, after he failed to explain the pending judgment.

On 30 July 2024, the Federal Court rejected Jamal's application for permission to appeal against the High Court's decision, which ordered him to pay RM300,000 in damages to Kok.

Jamal has paid the RM300,000 in damages.

On 26 July 2022, High Court Judge Datuk Mohd Arief Emran Arifin ordered Jamal to pay damages of RM300,000 and costs of RM50,000 to Kok, after allowing her lawsuit against Jamal regarding an alleged misuse of Yayasan Warisan Anak Selangor (Yawas) funds. – June 20, 2026
