A VIRAL video showing several individuals sprawled across seats on a Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) train has triggered a wave of criticism online, with many questioning their disregard for shared public space.

The incident involved a group believed to be Rohingya, and gained traction after a clip was uploaded on Threads by a user, who said the episode occurred when the train was not crowded.

In the post, the user expressed dissatisfaction over what was described as a lack of respect for public facilities.

The video shows several individuals stretched out across passenger seats, appearing comfortable as they occupied the space with little regard for others on board.

The comments section was quickly flooded with reactions, with many netizens criticising the behaviour.

Several users described the act as inconsiderate, arguing that public seating should not be treated as personal space. Others said such behaviour could tarnish the image of the country’s public transport system, particularly in the eyes of tourists.

Some also stressed that the incident reflects poorly on basic public etiquette when using shared facilities.

At the time of writing, MRT authorities have yet to issue any official statement regarding the viral incident. – June 20, 2026
