TWO married couples pleaded not guilty in the Magistrate's Court, Johor Bahru, today to a charge of causing injury to a housemaid in this district last year.
The accused, Muhamad Hirzihaziq Abulae, 30, and his wife, Nurfarah Ainna Hazhar, 34, as well as Muhamad Firdaus Sha'aban, 33, and his wife, Nurafiqah Nabilah Hazhar, 33, made the plea after the charge was read out before Magistrate Atifah Hazimah Wahab.
According to the charge, all the accused are jointly charged with intentionally causing injury to an Indonesian woman, Yulia Arnida, 34, at a house in Jalan Ledang, Tampoi at 8.30 pm, December 22 last year.
They are charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code, which provides for a prison sentence of up to one year or a maximum fine of RM2,000 or both if convicted.
Meanwhile, in a separate Magistrate's Court, Muhamad Firdaus and Nurafiqah also pleaded not guilty to two charges of intentionally causing injury to two other maids, Yatina Yusnita and Siti Hajar.
According to the charge, the couple is charged with committing the act at a house in Jalan Delima 2/6, Taman Daya, between 2 pm and 4 pm on June 11.
In a similar development, Muhamad Hirzihaziq and Nurfarah Ainna also face two separate charges for making criminal threats against Siti Hajar and Yatina Yusnita with the intention of causing fear to the victim.
The act was allegedly committed in Kampung Melayu Majidee at 2 pm, June 12, and the charge was brought under Section 506 of the Penal Code, which provides for a prison sentence of up to two years or a fine or both if convicted.
Muhamad Firdaus also faces two other charges of possessing Siti Hajar and Yatina Yusnita's passports without reasonable cause and legal authority at the D7 branch, Criminal Investigation Division, North Johor Bahru Police Headquarters at 7.30 pm, June 13.
The court allowed bail for Nurfarah Ainna and her husband at RM9,000 each, while Muhamad Firdaus was allowed bail of RM11,500 and Nurafiqah RM5,500.
The court set July 23 for the submission of documents while another case was set for mention on July 2. – June 22, 2026
