JOHOR police have ramped up security preparations ahead of tomorrow’s early voting, deploying more than 3,500 personnel across the state as over 12,700 registered security force voters prepare to cast their ballots in the Johor state election.
Johor police chief Comm Datuk Ab Rahaman Arsad said a total of 12,710 Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) voters registered with the Election Commission are eligible for early voting.
Of the total, 12,067 personnel will vote in person at designated early voting centres, while another 643 will cast their ballots through postal voting.
The early voting process will be conducted at 64 centres statewide, comprising 53 police voting centres and 11 located at Armed Forces facilities.
The exercise comes as campaigning enters its final stretch, with Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) intensifying their efforts to court voters through competing narratives centred on governance, economic development and political stability ahead of polling day on Saturday.
Senior leaders from both coalitions have spent the past week traversing the state, while party machinery has stepped up grassroots outreach and voter mobilisation efforts.
To ensure the early voting process proceeds smoothly, Johor police will deploy 3,565 personnel, comprising 647 officers, 2,806 rank-and-file members and 112 civilian staff.
With turnout expected to play a crucial role in several closely contested constituencies, political parties are also intensifying logistical preparations to encourage supporters to cast their ballots during the final days of campaigning.
Ab Rahaman said the state police contingent would maintain a high level of preparedness and continue strengthening monitoring and enforcement efforts throughout the remainder of the election period.
“Firm, fair and principled action will be taken against any violation of the law, without compromise,” he said.
He also urged voters and the public to comply with the law, respect the democratic process and cooperate with personnel on duty to ensure the early voting process is conducted in a safe, orderly and peaceful manner. – July 6, 2026
