NEGERI Sembilan police received 12 reports across the state on polling day during the 16th State Election, with one investigation launched into an alleged election offence.
Negeri Sembilan Police Chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said the investigation involved a report lodged by a 46-year-old man who claimed he was dissatisfied with the actions of a group of individuals linked to a political party.
"The complainant alleged that the group had threatened to close a road, causing concern among residents in Kampung Dusun Kubur, near Jelebu," he said in a statement.
Alzafny said an investigation paper had been opened under Section 506 of the Penal Code and Section 9 of the Election Offences Act 1954 relating to criminal intimidation and the use of force or threats to influence voters or candidates during an election period.
He said police received a total of 104 reports involving alleged election offences between July 18 and polling day.
Meanwhile, traffic congestion was reported on several major routes in Seremban, Jelebu and Kuala Pilah during polling day due to increased vehicle movement and the location of several polling centres near main roads.
"Members of the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department were deployed at key locations to control and facilitate traffic movement.
"Highway operators also provided cooperation by opening all lanes at the affected toll plazas to ease the flow of vehicles," he said.
Alzafny said the polling process for the Negeri Sembilan state election proceeded smoothly and thanked the public for their cooperation and compliance with the law throughout the election period. - August 2, 2026
