THE 2026 UMNO General Assembly will be held over four days from Sept 9 to 12 at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTC KL), following a revision to its original schedule.

UMNO secretary-general Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the annual assembly will begin on Sept 9 with the President's Briefing, followed by the opening ceremony of the Women's, Youth and Puteri assemblies later that evening.

The assemblies of the three-party wings will take place on Sept 10, while the main General Assembly is scheduled for Sept 11 and 12.

In a statement, UMNO said the gathering is expected to serve as a platform to strengthen unity within the party, renew members' commitment and reinforce the organisation's resolve in addressing current political challenges.

"The assembly is also expected to strengthen UMNO as the 'Rumah Bangsa', a political home for the struggle of the Malay and Bumiputera communities, while continuing to uphold its commitment to defending religion, race and the nation," the statement said.

The party had previously scheduled the 2026 General Assembly to be held from Aug 12 to 15.

This year's assembly is expected to attract significant attention amid recent political developments, including Barisan Nasional's victories in the Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections, the understanding forged between Barisan Nasional and Perikatan Nasional, and BN's preparations for the Melaka state election and the 16th General Election. - August 5, 2026
