FIVE male students at a religious secondary school in Bukit Ibam, Rompin have been detained after allegedly assaulting two Form Two students in the school hostel on Sept 12.
Rompin deputy district police chief DSP Mohamad Zamri Mohamad Zaber said police had received two reports over the incident at the Bukit Ibam police station since Sept 17.
He said the case was being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting.
“Investigations found that the incident occurred at about 12.01am when two students who were the victims were called to Male Hostel Room 203 by at least five students, comprising three Form Five students and two Form Four students,” he said today.
Mohamad Zamri said the incident was believed to have stemmed from the first victim allegedly skipping a religious class, while the second victim was believed to have been an accomplice.
“Both victims were then assaulted by all the suspects. The first victim suffered injuries to both arms, while the second victim sustained injuries to the body,” he said. - September 19, 2026
