THREE motorcyclists were killed and nine others injured in a crash involving 12 motorcycles and three cars on Jalan Jelapang-Ampang near Ipoh early Saturday.
Ipoh district police chief ACP Muhammad Najib Hamzah said two men, aged 19 and 20, were pronounced dead at the scene following the 3.35am crash.
A third 19-year-old male motorcyclist died while receiving treatment in the Red Zone of the Emergency and Trauma Department at Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun (HRPB), he said.
Nine other male motorcyclists, aged between 19 and 25, were injured and taken to HRPB for treatment.
“The three car drivers involved in the crash were reported to be uninjured,” he said in a statement today.
Muhammad Najib said preliminary investigations found that all the vehicles involved were travelling from Meru towards Tambun before the crash occurred.
Police are continuing investigations to establish the cause and sequence of events leading to the collision.
“The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
“Anyone with information about the incident is urged to assist the investigation by contacting the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division at the Ipoh District Police Headquarters,” he said.
He also advised road users to comply with traffic regulations, control their speed and prioritise safety while travelling. - September 19, 2026
