PUTRAJAYA – The government, via the Health Ministry, and Pfizer (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd today signed the manufacturing and supply agreement for the pharmaceutical company’s Covid-19 vaccines in Malaysia.
Today’s agreement is an extension of the Binding Heads of Terms agreement signed on November 24 last year.
The agreement was signed via a live conference by Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba, on behalf of the Malaysian government, and Pfizer country manager (Malaysia and Brunei) Luksanawan Thangpaibool.
Pfizer Emerging Market Asia head Anil Argilla also witnessed the signing.
In his speech, Dr Adham said the Malaysian government appreciates the support given by Pfizer and hopes the vaccines can arrive earlier than scheduled.
Anil said Pfizer is committed to ensuring not only provision of access for vaccines, but also cooperating in ending the pandemic.
“This is a big step forward; it is a way to control and probably end the pandemic in Malaysia,” he said. – Bernama, January 11, 2021
