KUALA LUMPUR – Companies previously registered with the International Trade and Industry Ministry (Miti) via the Covid-19 Intelligent Management System (CIMS) will not be required to re-register to remain open during the movement control order (MCO) in the Federal Territories and five states.
Its minister, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, said companies concerned need only download the registration confirmation notification letter starting from 3pm today.
Meanwhile, manufacturing and production sector companies under essential services that have yet to register with CIMS can do online, also after 3pm today.
“The notification letter that confirms the registration can be downloaded by the company following registration,” he said in a statement today.
The registration, he said only applies to companies in the manufacturing and production sectors under Miti's supervision.
“The employer is responsible for downloading the letter to enable the movement of employees during the MCO period. Employees of the company who are allowed to be at work at any one time are required to bring a copy of the letter provided by the employer along with the employee pass or employer confirmation letter.
“This aims to facilitate the movement of commercial vehicles as well as the movement of workers between homes and workplaces. Miti has informed the police regarding this matter to facilitate movement during roadblock operations.”
In line with the objective of curbing the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, Azmin reiterated that only 30% of employees under the management group are allowed to be in the office.
“The number of support group employees and employees directly involved in the production line will be determined by their respective employers, taking into account the strict compliance of the set SOP.”
The work from home directive will take effect, he said, for jobs that do not require physical attendance.
“The government calls on industries and the private sector to enhance the implementation of work from home as a new norm in line with the latest technology and online applications.”
The government and the private sector, he said, needs to work together to curb and break the chain of Covid-19 transmissions from becoming more critical to protect the health and safety of the people and accelerate the economic recovery process.
“Miti would like to emphasise the duty and responsibility of the industry to comply with the MCO and SOP instructions set by the government.
“Miti, in collaboration with the state authorities, will conduct periodic enforcement throughout the MCO period on companies to ensure SOPs are complied.
“Offenders will be compounded for offences in accordance with Section 25 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act (Act 342).”
Azmin added that employers found to be in breach of SOP will be subject to legal action, including the shuttering of premises.
All SOPs for the manufacturing sector under Miti's purview can be downloaded from its website. – The Vibes, January 12, 2021
