KOTA KINABALU – Several private companies have come forward to assist the public as Sabah faces difficult times with floods and landslides amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.
A food company, Kim Teck Cheong Consolidated Bhd, donated 10,000 packs of bread to 100 villages and 26 schools in Kundasang to ease their burden during the movement control order today.
Its executive director, Dexter Lau, said that similar donations have been distributed to 14 districts in Sabah, amounting to 350,000 packs of bread.
He said it was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility programme to help those in need during this trying time, especially after the landslide in Kinabalu National Park, Kundasang yesterday.
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Joachim Gunsalam, who was present at the donation’s symbolic presentation ceremony, said he hopes more private companies will step up to help the needy in Sabah.
Meanwhile, another company, SNL Usaha Enterprise, donated personal protective equipment suits, hand sanitisers, and food items to security frontliners working to keep people in order during the MCO.
The Labuan-based construction company’s manager, Mohd Naghuib Naming, said that he hopes the donation would not only equip our frontliners for their duties but would also show appreciation for their contribution.
Two other companies, Suria Jaya Holding dan KM Trading, have also presented similar donations to police personnel in the Kapayan police headquarters recently.
Present to witness the handing over of the donations were Sabah police deputy commissioner Datuk Mazli Mazlan and State Rural Development Minister Datuk Jahid Jahim. – The Vibes, January 21, 2021
