KUALA LUMPUR – The country has recorded another 11 Covid-19 fatalities, bringing the death toll to 689, reported the Health Ministry today.

It also announced 13 fresh clusters.

With 3,048 news infections, the national Covid-19 tally is at 186,849, of which 41,076 are active cases.

Selangor continues to record the highest number of infections with 1,035 cases, followed by Johor (529), Sabah (348), Kuala Lumpur (305), Sarawak (120) and Penang (110).

Perak recorded 103 cases, while Negri Sembilan recorded 95 cases, Melaka (90), Kelantan (89), Terengganu (79), Kedah (74), Pahang (46), Putrajaya (22) and Perlis (3).

Labuan has no new cases today.

Of the new infections, the ministry reported that 3,040 are local transmissions, involving 2,494 citizens and 546 foreigners, while eight are imported cases, all involving citizens.

Of the 13 new clusters today, three are in Selangor – namely the Sri Muda, Sg Chemubong and Jalan Waja workplace clusters – which contributed to 78 cases.

While, Johor’s Jalan Indah and Jalan Firma Tiga workplace clusters and Kg Muhibbah community cluster recorded 20 cases.

Sabah recorded one worksite cluster – Industri Apas with two cases – while Kuala Lumpur’s Jalan Kerinchi worksite cluster has 14, and Terengganu’s Kg Tualang worksite cluster has three.

Melaka and Kelantan both recorded two vulnerable group clusters each in Bukit Palah and Kg Pahi, respectively, with a total of 13 cases. – The Vibes, January 25, 2021
