SANDAKAN – Three more secondary schools here have been closed for sanitisation following the detection of several Covid-19 cases, bringing the total to seven since classes resumed on January 20.

Although the Health and Education ministries have yet to disclose reports on the schools’ closure, sources told The Vibes that SMK Sandakan was closed yesterday after a female student tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday.

SM St Cecilia and SMK Agama Tun Juhar are closed today after several students contracted Covid-19, sources added.

Photos of the closure notices issued by the Health Ministry to the two schools have been widely shared on social media today.

Meanwhile, Sandakan Vocational College is said to share the same fate, but The Vibes is still trying to get more information.

Yesterday, a new Covid-19 cluster was detected in Sandakan.

The Jalan Labuk cluster has two students with the virus.

On Thursday, four secondary schools were closed after 10 students and four teachers tested positive.

Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun confirmed the cases on Friday.
