PUTRAJAYA – Pejuang has submitted an appeal after its application to register as a political party was rejected, but Muda has yet to do so, said Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin.
He said although their applications were rejected by the Registrar of Societies on January 6 based on provisions under Section 7 (3)(e) of the Societies Act 1966 (Act 335), they can file an appeal to the home minister within 30 days.
Expressing his regrets over allegations that he did not approve their registrations, Hamzah said the applications were rejected because the party constitutions submitted failed to comply with provisions under Section 7 (3)(e), elaborating that the constitutions were not organised.
“It was not me who rejected (the applications) but it was the RoS,” he said in a press conference here today.
Hamzah also said that the Pejuang sponsor committee held a discussion with the RoS on January 8, and submitted an appeal the same day.
Muda’s sponsor committee, meanwhile, has yet to meet with the RoS for consultation and has yet to submit an official appeal to the home minister, he added. – Bernama, February 2, 2021
